Sally Bear was given to us as a wedding present in 2009 from my best friend. From then on, Sally Bear was our Baby! She “ruffed” it with us for 3 yrs in a house that had no heat or ac, it rained in the kitchen, and for a while we lived out of an icechest and cooked on a hot plate. After 2 yrs, we brought home a rescue named Holly. She was a tiny puppy and Sally drooled all over her lol. After a few days, the were inseparable. Richie and I were diagnosed with infertility and Sally and Holly became my constant! Always there to lick tears or provide a hug. She became our baby. For 15 yrs, Sally watched as we added more rescues to our family. She never complained lol. She enjoyed 10 furry siblings. In 2015, We found a lump on Sally’s tummy. It was mammary cancer. She had a surgery and a foot long scar to show it! But needed no chemo! In 2019, Richie and I brought home a human aka furless puppy. Sally was a good sister but she preferred to be in the quiet! She outlived 3 of her furry siblings even though she was the oldest.
Sally was diagnosed in 2023 with diabetes. It took her eyesight, her appetite, and her strength, yet she continued to hold on. Shots, needle pricks, diets, and water became her life for a year. Today, she told us she was tired but still held on. We had to make a hard yet easy decision. She was there for us in our most vulnerable situations and we knew that we had to do the same for her. No more shots. No more sticks. No more meds. No more pain.
Sally crossed the rainbow Bridge at 6:17pm on June 28th, 2024 surrounded by Richie, Lainey, and Amelia. We were able to take her home for her sister’s Piper, Diamond, Abby, Gracie, Maggie, and Missy to also mourn and say goodbye.
Pain free and smiling! If love were enough, you’d be here furever. Give Itty, Holly, and Keira a kiss from us. See you again Ole girl!!
